OBJECTIVES
* To protect the environment, to increase knowledge in horticulture, and to promote
excellence in landscape design.
* To advance and continue the study of the earth, gardening and landscape design by:
a.       Encouraging and promoting attendance at Environmental Study Schools, Gardening Study Schools, and Landscape Design Study Schools of the National Garden Clubs, Inc. (NGC).
b.      Serving on local and state committees concerned with civic beautification projects.
c.       Continuing study through lectures, workshops and tours to private and public gardens.
d.      Assisting garden clubs when requested by giving information to promote MCC objectives.
 
MEMBERSHIP
*Qualifications for membership in the MCC are as follows:
a.       Be a member in good standing of a Michigan Garden Club and
b.      Be accredited as a consultant by NGC and
c.       Have successfully completed at least two courses in any one area of study and
d.      Pay dues.
*Membership classifications
       a. Consultant – completed four courses in any one area of study
b. Provisional Consultant – completed two courses in any area of study .
c. Honorary Membership – conferred on the MGCI President and to others by the members.
*Admission Procedures
a.       Qualified members shall be entitled to join upon payment of dues.
b.      Dues are payable in April of even-numbered years.
c.       Dues for Provisional Consultants are payable when eligible to join.
 
 
MEETINGS
Meetings of the MCC shall be held twice a year.
a.         There shall be a meeting in association with the symposium or garden walk offered sometime in the year. The date and location of the meeting shall be determined by the President and/or Executive Board.
b.        There shall be an Annual Meeting in the spring held in conjunction with the State Convention. The date and location of the meeting shall be determined by the President and/or Executive Board.
Annual Meeting: May 24, 2010; 7:30pm at the MGC Annual Convention, McCamly Plaza, Battle Creek
Summer Meeting: June 2, 2010 Tour of Loda Lake Nature Sanctuary, Lunch & Meeting in White Cloud
