Linda Sather / 1945-2008

Linda Sather, 62, of Iroquois Trail in Niles, died at 2:29 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, having been ill since Monday, July 7.
 
 
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 14, at the First Presbyterian Church in Niles with the Rev. Harry L. Clark, of the church, officiating.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles.

She was born on Nov. 17, 1945, in Norfolk, Neb., to Edward and Dorothy (Wilson) Dufek.
She had lived in Niles since 1986 and was a former employee of Employers Insurance in Wausau, Wis.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Niles, Seepawa Club and Town and Country Dance Club.

Since 1987, she was a member of Psi Iota Si Sorority, Zeta Theta Chapter. In 1988, she was the social chairperson for the sorority's national convention in South Bend, Ind. She became the president of Psi Iota Si Sorority in 1991.
 
In 1994, she became a charter member of the local Berrien County Civitan Club and served on Civitan board of directors.

She had a great passion for gardening and was a member of the Four Flags Garden Club and served as president in 1991. She kept records for five years as Data Base Manager for 200 garden clubs and more than 8,000 members. She was a member of Michiana Landscape of Niles.

During the Apple Festival, she helped deliver apples to the Niles Train Depot for train passengers going through Niles.

On June 7, 1969, in Des Moines, she married Ronald Sather, who survives.

She and Ron, who worked for the J.C. Penney Company, traveled to various locations.

Ron is currently the C.E.O. and president of the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce, where she assisted him with clerical duties.

She was an accomplished artist enjoying acrylic painting.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; her mother, Dorothy Dufek of Norfolk, Neb.; three aunts, Gladys Pisthammer and Carmen Wilson, both of Neligh, Neb. and Phyllis Wilson of Fort Dodge, Iowa and two uncles, Alan Pisthammer and Bernard Wilson, both of Neligh, Neb.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edward Dufek and a sister, Dorothy Ann Frady, who died in 2007.
