Help on Downloading -- When you are asked to download a file from this web site it will probably be in one of three formats. Depending on the programs and settings of your PC the download will be presented in different ways. If the required program to view the file is already installed on your PC it may simply open the file and you are on your way. If the PC does not recognize the file you may be presented with options. The following may help you understand what your PC needs.

1. PDF Files --(file name ends in .pdf) are the most universally accepted format, that is readable by most computers. The bad news is that you require an Adobe Reader program to read the file. The good news is that it is available for free from www.adobe.com - if you go to this site, follow the directions for downloading and installing the proper program for your specific type of PC, in the language of your choice, you will be able to read pdf files.

2. Word documents (typicaly end with .doc but there are other variations). These files require a Microsoft program that may or may not have come with your PC. What you are looking for is the "Word Processing" type of program that you may have. Programs such as WordPerfect, may have a "filter" that needs to be activated or installed as an "add on" to enable them to handle a "word" program. Unfortunately some of the older "word programs" may not be able to read the newer versions. We will try to stick to the older formats on this site, which will be readable by the majority of our members. If all else fails, try to open the file using a program like "notepad" or "wordpad". These are common programs that come with most versions of the Microsoft operating system. You may loose some of the document formating, but you should be able to read the text. Of course, you can also go out and buy and install the Word program or one of the Office Suites that include it.

3. Power Point files (files that end with .ppt) are used in a variety of presentation documents. They require the Microsoft Power Point program to open, which is not free, but widely available at stores that sell Microsoft programs.

A good way to start is to double click on the downloaded file and explore the options that your PC presents on opening the file. As you have success with one of the files, the next one will be much easier.
